Asianet Satellite Communications Limited

Asianet Broadband with Class A ISP license provides Broadband Internet service over optic fiber cable using GPON technology under the brand name, Asianet Broadband.

Started in 2000, Asianet Broadband was the first ISP in Kerala to provide internet service over cable in an era when dial-up internet connectivity was the norm. The initial name of the brand was Asianet Dataline and since 2009, it’s known as Asianet Broadband,

Internet service with DOCSIS technology was used during the formative years using coaxial cable with speeds up to 50 Mbps. The company has since adopted GPON technology with optic fiber cable from 2014 onwards offering subscribers with larger data plans and higher speeds up to 1 Gbps, than the earlier used technology. Asianet Broadband offers Internet Plans for individual subscribers for home segment category and also for Government offices, Small and Medium Enterprises, Corporate organizations, etc with internet services besides leased line facilities and web services. Post Paid and Prepaid subscription facilities are available for primary subscriber base and Prepaid mode only for secondary subscribers with various payment options for online and offline modes for transaction.

Asianet Digital Network Pvt Ltd, the subsidiary company of Asianet Satellite Communications Ltd provides Digital Cable TV services to subscribers in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha under the brand name, Asianet Digital .

Asianet Digital

Asianet Digital, a Multi System Operator (MSO) commenced in 1992 offering cable TV service to subscribers in Kerala in analog format. With the execution of a right-to-use commercial agreement with the Kerala State Electricity Board, the copper cables were drawn across electricity poles for distribution. The subscription service was provided with last-mile connectivity for the primary subscribers and indirectly to secondary subscribers through Local Cable Operators (LCO) with up to 80 TV channels aired from over 50 control rooms or headends across Kerala.The company started Digital cable TV service by the end of 2006 with the digital hardware, Set Top Box equipment that were installed at customer premises (STB); airing over 100 TV channels in digital transmission mode, the television channels in encrypted format were transmitted from a Digital headend in Kochi, Kerala. The company commenced digitization its subscribers much ahead of the mandate set by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India. To enhance viewing experience, Asianet Digital cable TV initiated service in High Definition (HD) with HD STB, another first in the cable TV history annals. Asianet was the first MSO (Multi-System Operator) in Kerala to receive the BECIL (Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd) certification for conformity with prescribed criteria for conditional access, subscriber management and digital headend technology in 2016. Cable TV service in conformity to TRAI Regulations is provided to customers with subscribers having the option to select the channels/ packs themselves by online and/or offline mode. Subscribers in the residential and commercial categories form the subscriber base for Asianet Digital TV service. The company currently provides 494 channels including 64 HD channels. Services are available in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Odisha besides Kerala. Headends at Trivandrum, Kochi, Warangal, Hubli and Shimoga were commissioned during the past decade. Value added services such as multi-screen viewing, VOD (video on demand) are offerings that have been offered to the customers.
